Note to square journos: If you don’t understand a thing, but have an ill-informed notion about that thing, don’t go out and interview a guy who lives, eats, and breathes that thing.

Re: criticism from the right that all those protesting have nothing better to do, are hippies, anarchists, trust fund brats. For those telling protesters to “get a job” … pick up a newspaper. The true rate of unemployed workers in the US is around 20% - not the 9% reported in the news. Many workers are underemployed.
THIS. I don’t understand people complaining about “trust funders” protesting. Not all rich people are selfish assholes! Hard to believe, I know. It gives me hope that the next generation of 1%ers will maybe have more compassion towards the rest of society.
“Why don’t you give money to _______ then??”. Wealthy people generally have a whole list of charities and organizations that they give money to (tax break!). The system needs to be fixed, the burden is on our elected leaders to make a change in the tax code - not on wealthy people to just ‘donate’ money to Social Security or Medicare.

I never quite understood the argument that the rich should be coddled in tax breaks. To me it just made sense that when the government is spending so much money, you tax where there’s potential revenue. This idea that the rich shouldn’t have to give away all the money they earned working so hard…
